Hello everyone, welcome to 'By Blackbird' ...

This is Chakey's story and hopefully I can do it justice in this short space...

Though the dream started 12 years ago when she took the path of cooking, and in particular the specialised path of a pastry chef, it really began at a very young age for her, when her parents introduced Chakey & her sister to cakes & pastries at the local bakery or at a newly opened cafe.  She knew there and then her life would eventually lead to making all things freshly baked.  Her road to 'By Blackbird' was often difficult and challenging, but she persevered.  She kept her focus and dream - to share the joy of pastries with love and passion!

Chakey first arrived to Australia 8 years ago via Melbourne where she had the opportunity to cook at the 'RACV City Club' and then more specifically in baking at 'Fleischer Cakes'.   Then 3 years ago she arrived to Adelaide to establish 'Au Matin Calme'.  Though a success, it came at a cost.  She then took a 12 month leave of absence.  After some soul searching and finding inspiration through the Beatles' 'Blackbird' song, she decided to rise again and started 'By Blackbird'.
